Intelligent and satirical, this beautifully made graphic novel tells the tragic love story of Iranians and their homeland through generations of revolution. The book is unique in its structure as each chapter is illustrated by a different artist. The project was overseen by successful graphic novelist and filmmaker Marjane Satrapi, who contacted the artists and compiled their work, often adding sections of her own to enhance the continuity. The book exposes readers to all aspects of modern Iranian life which are often covered up by the regime. From describing the notorios Evin Prison to introducing the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp, to uncovering the tiered power structure and corruption in Iran.
